This year’s theme for World Humanitarian Day is ‘it takes a village.’ As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child, similarly it takes a collaborative effort to support those in humanitarian crisis. ‘

Afghanistan Independence Day, celebrated each year on the 19th of August, marks Afghanistan’s independence from British rule in 1919.

Since inhabiting our new orange home in Thornes Park, we are always looking for new ways not only to bring our colleagues and supporters together but also to involve our whole community in events and initiatives.

This year, as we commemorate the 76th anniversary of India’s independence, celebrating the spirit of generosity and compassion that runs through the heart of their nation.

This Pakistan Independence Day, we’re celebrating all things Pakistan.

Over my last couple days in Beirut, I found myself immersed in an atmosphere brimming with hope and resilience. I was honoured to attend the launch of the Beirut Marathon Association series, "Right 2 Run." The core of "Right 2 Run" is to foster a running culture, particularly in underprivileged regions, reinforcing the belief that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has the right to run.

Three years since the devastating blast in Beirut, I find myself walking down the very same streets that were once reduced to rubble. The city still bears the scars of the past, but its heart remains unbroken. Being back in Beirut after the tragedy, a city that has witnessed the very worst and best of humanity. I am here to witness first-hand the stories of resilience, hope, and the extraordinary power of change.

This noteworthy day commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and teaches us to overcome hardships with faith and perseverance. Let us take this opportunity to reflect on our own lives and remember that Allah (SWT) is always by our side.
