A huge thank you to all the proud women who supported our Women’s Welfare campaign by attending our very special performance ‘Women of Power – More Than Just a Piece of Cloth’ this Ramadan.
Penny Appeal were proud to work once more with the critically-acclaimed theatre group ‘Once Upon a Family’, who delivered a fantastic performance to those eager viewers lucky enough to make it.
With a star-studded cast including the inspiring performance poet Sukina Pilgrim, it was certainly a night to remember.
This brand new play follows the trials and tribulations of a Muslim woman growing up in the 21st century, and goes behind the hijab to offer a grippingly insightful, honest, and entertaining show.
With all the proceeds from the show going towards our Women’s Welfare campaign, and thanks to your generous donations, we are one step closer to eliminating gender inequality and empowering women all over the world.
As a strong supporter of women’s right since its foundation in 2009, Penny Appeal has been hard at work providing education, training, employment, and support services to women across the globe, providing them the tools they need to thrive and succeed, and give them a voice with which to make change.
Empowering Women
Last year, we supported the ‘escaping darkness’ project, which provided counselling and support to women in Iraq who were subject to torture and abuse at the hands of Daesh terrorists.
This was very successful, with nearly 400 GP consultations and 200 home visits during the year.
This year we are also launching a project to support maternal health, offering support services to poor and vulnerable pregnant women in impoverished areas who often lack the advice and facilities they need during this critical time.
With your donations, we can make a huge difference to these women, who suffer the consequences of inequality every single day.
