A Stitch Towards a New Beginning
When Mubeen Akram’s husband died suddenly of a heart attack, her world collapsed overnight. “One day I had a partner, a home full of laughter… and the next, I was alone in Sohawa with two little girls, a toddler son, and no way to feed them.”
Determined to survive, Mubeen borrowed an old sewing machine and began stitching clothes for neighbours. But it broke down often, slowing her work and making it impossible to earn enough. Still, she refused to give up because her children were counting on her. Through our Sewing Machine Gift programme, Penny Appeal gave Mubeen a strong, reliable new machine - one that could keep up with her hard work. Now, she sews faster, takes more orders, and earns enough to feed her children and keep them in school.
