Building Bridges with Wakefield Bridge Club!
We were thrilled to welcome our friends and neighbours at Wakefield Bridge Club to make use of our orange community space to host the Yorkshire Bridge Club Association Competition last week! The event saw over 60 members and 15 teams come together for food, community, and big tournament for the Yorkshire Bridge title!
Here at Penny Appeal, we take immense pride in fostering local community spirit and are beyond blessed to be able to provide a space where local groups can come together to celebrate their passions. Wakefield Bridge Club have been our neighbours here at the Thornes Park Campus for a while now, and we love to welcome them to our HQ every time they require a communal space. Their club isn’t just about playing the game, it acts as a space for new friendships and bonds formed over a shared love for the popular card game.
Our CEO, and few members of our orange team went to check in on how competition day was going. Ridwana, CEO of Penny Appeal, took a moment to address the participants, firstly to thank them for their attendance to our Headquarters, and secondly to reiterate her passion for community projects and clubs like this one. She said, ‘we always love to have the community come here to use our facilities; we want this to be your home as much as it is ours,’ which highlights our ongoing mission to do good in our local community, as well as change the lives of our beneficiaries across the world.
While we patiently anticipate the winners of the 2024 tournament, we’d like to say a BIG thank you to Wakefield Bridge Club, and the wider Yorkshire Bridge community for treating our building like your own. And thanks for the donations you left on the tables! Events like this really solidify our place within the community as well as highlighting the importance of coming together and nurturing our local connections.
We hope to see you again soon, Wakefield Bridge Club!
