How Can Young People Get Involved in Charitable Work?
Eid Mubarak from all of us at Penny Appeal!
Today, homes all over the world are buzzing with the sounds of the Takbeerat, children laughing in their best Eid clothes, and the amazing smell of family recipes cooking in the kitchen. It is a day of massive joy, gratitude, and coming together as a community.
After the beautiful first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, we have finally made it to Eid ul Adha. Today is all about celebration, but at its heart, it is about something much deeper: the beautiful legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and his ultimate trust in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى).
We look at Qurbani as a sacred tradition, a direct connection to our history. It is a physical reminder that when we give up something for the sake of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى, He always replaces it with something full of blessings.
Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) tells us beautifully in the Holy Qur'an:
"Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you." Surah Al-Hajj, 22:37
It is not about the animal or the food itself; it is about what is inside our hearts. It is about our intention to be generous, obedient, and kind to those around us.
For many of us, Eid means plenty of food on the table and full plates shared with friends and neighbours. But today is also the perfect time to look out for our wider global family.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) showed us exactly how this day should be celebrated. The Companions once asked him about the sacrifices, and his answer reminds us of just how much mercy is packed into this day:
The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "OMessenger of Allah, what are these sacrifices?" He said: "The Sunnah of your father Ibrahim." They said: "What is there for us in them, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "For every hair, one merit." — Sunan Ibn Majah
Every single share of Qurbani matters. While we enjoy our holiday meals, millions of our brothers and sisters in places like Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, and Pakistan are living through incredibly tough times due to poverty and conflict. For many of these vulnerable families, the fresh meat provided by your Qurbani is the only time they get to eat meat all year round.
Because of your amazing support, Penny Appeal teams have been working hard on the ground right up until the Eid prayer to make sure your sacrifices are handled properly, fresh, and delivered directly to the people who need them most.
You are not just sending a meal, you are sending a message to a lonely widow, an injured parent, or a displaced child that they are loved, remembered, and part of our global community on this holy day. You are giving them the dignity of a proper Eid celebration.
The celebration doesn’t have to end with a single day. If you want to make an even bigger, long-lasting difference for a family trying to get back on their feet, you can look into our sustainable livelihood programs.
Thank you for opening your hearts and making this Eid so incredibly special for so many people. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) accept your prayers, your sacrifice, and your charity, and may He fill your home with peace and happiness.
Have a wonderful, blessed day with your loved ones. Eid Mubarak!
Every Penny Helps Thank you.
