Join Penny Appeal on a stunning journey of discovery and beauty, as we travel to two of the holiest cities in all of Islam, Makkah and Medina, to take on the Makkah Twin Peaks Challenge. It is here that you’ll be able to put yourself to the test and make the climb to the breath-taking peaks of two historic giants, all in aid of our Love Palestine appeal.
The Makkah Twin Peaks Challenge also gives you the opportunity to perform Umrah, stay in Medina and go on a guided tour of the Prophet’s Mosque, as well as his tomb on this amazing journey.

Makkah Twin Peaks
Our first stop will be climbing Mount Noor, a mountain famous for the Cave of Hira, where the Prophet (saw) often went to meditate and the spot where he received his first revelation.
Mount Noor is a rocky peak that can been seen for miles around at 2,106 ft. Once you make the rocky assent, climbing around 1,200 steps, you’ll find yourself standing atop the summit and face to face with the Hira Cave.
The next mountain that awaits you is Mount Thawr, the stunning mountain that holds the cave which sheltered the Prophet (saw) and Abu Bakr (ra) for three days from the Quraysh, as they were fleeing from Makkah to Medina.
Mount Thawr is a great challenge, sitting at 4,610ft with gravelly terrain and quite a steep climb, but once you reach the top, you’ll instantly see why the climb was worth it. You’ll be rewarded for your hard work with a bird’s eye view of the surrounding land and a peek inside the cave where Allah (swt) protected the Prophet (saw) and Abu Bakr (ra).

Climb for Love Palestine
When you sign up for the Makkah Twin Peaks Challenge, you’ll be supporting our brothers and sisters in Palestine with every step you take.
Every penny you raise in support of your trek will go to supporting our Love Palestine appeal. Love Palestine provides poor, vulnerable people in Palestine with the vital support they need to survive.
Your support could help distributions of nutritious food parcels in Palestinian refugee camps, support Palestinian farmers so they can cultivate and expand their olive farms, help create rooftop gardens that become a sustainable source of income for women and provides essential services, like medical care and clean water distribution, for the people affected by the Gaza Emergency.
By signing up for this life-changing challenge you will be asked to raise a minimum of £1,500 for our Love Palestine appeal, but by all means raise as much as you can!
We’ll provide dedicated support from the moment you sign up. Once we receive your booking confirmation, you will have access to all the information you need, from fundraising ideas to training regimes. You will also be accompanied by Penny Appeal staff during your five day trip so you’ll always have someone on-hand to help you.
