FAQs
‘Follow your Penny’ is an eye-opening programme aimed at creating humanitarian leaders who focus their energy and passion into raising funds and making a difference, while developing key skills including: • Leadership • Communication • Fundraising • Humanitarian field knowledge
A typical day in the field may include travelling in the morning by coach to a location 60 minutes away from the accommodation and visiting different camps throughout the day. It can be tough and takes a great amount of resilience. You’ll meet many people on the trip who are all working together to serve our brothers and sisters.
Before you are deployed overseas you will be fully equipped with everything you need to undertake a safe and successful deployment. This includes training in fundraising, safety, child protection and safeguarding, as well as media and leadership training.
If you are over 18 and can raise the minimum fundraising target, you may join our deployments. You can still support our fundraising activities until you are 18 years old when you’ll then be eligible to go on a deployment.
You will be briefed fully on everything you need to pack for your deployment.
You will stay in a good standard of hotel accommodation within driving distance of the camps where we distribute aid.
No, you will not need a visa for this specific deployment to Lebanon.
The money you raise for your deployment will be used to support the projects we run in the country you are visiting.

As with any travel there are risks, however we have put measures in place to minimise those risks. From training so you know how to respond to different scenarios in the field to our skilled and experienced deployment leaders and field workers. Should there be any risks to your safety you would be removed from the field.
Yes, to include health insurance.

The clothes you need will depend on the location and time of year that you travel. You will be provided with a full briefing on which clothing you should pack before you are deployed.
We will have ‘Follow your Penny’ reflections every evening for people to discuss their experiences. If any serious issues arise, we will refer you to our local UK penny Appeal teams.
