Inspiring the students of Bradford and beyond: Penny Appeal Founder Launches Mission to Reach 100 Schools Nationwide.
This year, Penny Appeal’s founder, Adeem Younis, has pledged to work with 100 schools, particularly those in impoverished areas across the UK, to help inspire the younger generation, broaden their horizons, and share with them real life examples of how to defy the odds and pursue their dreams.
Most recently, Adeem was invited to address 100 GCSE students from Carlton Bolling College in Bradford, sharing with them the secrets and struggles behind his transformation from the orphan boy dependent on free-school meals, to the entrepreneur responsible for delivering over 49 million meals to those in need around the world.
Born and raised in Yorkshire, Adeem’s background and upbringing was very similar to the students he spoke to, allowing them to relate to his journey and how, despite his very humble beginnings, he was able to become a successful businessman, philanthropist, and break down barriers along the way.
Year 11 student, Mohammad UI Haq said: “Listening to the guest speaker today reminded me that anything and everything is possible. The guest speaker is from the same background as me and grew up in an area similar to mine and is now a CEO! I aim to follow in his footsteps and design my own app in the future.”
Headmaster at the school, Azum Mohammed said: “Thank you to Adeem and Penny Appeal for their support in raising the aspirations of our students. Having positive role models, like Adeem, once again reminds our students that anything is possible. Adeem’s journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur is motivational but also inspiring and I am confident it will have the desired positive impact on our students. Thank you for your time, Adeem.”
When asked how he found this visit Adeem said: “It’s been a privilege to come along to Carlton Bolling College and talk to 100 amazing students; I hope that my personal story will not only encourage them to strive for fantastic educational results but to go out into the big world and have the belief that they matter, and they can make a difference.’’
Penny Appeal has doubled down on their commitment to welfare and aid in the UK, striving to transform small change into a big difference for those who need us most. In the past year, Penny Appeal has worked to support hundreds of families struggling in the wake of Covid, offering cash grant, food parcels and counselling services. Adeem’s hope is comprehensively to support schools and students in need, he added, “You’re not thinking about hopes and dreams if your family is struggling to make ends meet and you’re going to sleep hungry. Charity begins at home and I’m proud that Penny Appeal have a diverse range of welfare interventions to support those in need. So much more help is needed.”
