If Not Now, When? If Not You, Who?

The new year has arrived and in true Penny Appeal style, we’ve hit the ground running. 

Just a few months ago, our new Board and Executive team signed off a detailed 5-year strategy, setting ambitious goals and targets under a renewed Penny Appeal vision and mission. This makes 2022 our most important yet, as we springboard to new heights in our vision to serve the most vulnerable, at home and abroad, transforming small change into a big difference for those who need it most.

One of the driving forces behind establishing Penny Appeal was making charitable giving affordable and rewardable. With all the gigantic challenges that poverty presents, globally and at home, it can often feel like whatever we do will never be enough… but that couldn’t be further from the truth. 

If we all come together and do our small bit, together it adds up to a big difference. That’s the Penny Appeal spirit and it’s that spirit that helped us reach over 2.6 million people over the past year alone, delivered over 7 million meals, built almost 5 thousand wells, managed over 16 thousand orphan sponsorships not to mention 1.4 million directly helped with our Rapid Response Emergency relief and Covid support - and that’s just the tip of the ice-berg.

There’s so much more, but all that fantastic work starts with you because if not you, then who?

It starts with the courage to dig deep and choose to help someone in need. Every donation, a penny or a pound, little or large, every single contribution is like a drop in the ocean; on its own, it may be small but together our donations amount to a formidable force, a force that transforms lives and helps thousands of people every single day. That’s how we turn your small change into a big difference for those who need it most.

And that help couldn’t come sooner for our sisters and brothers across Northern Pakistan. Treacherous weather conditions have leftover 22 dead, including 10 children. Hundreds of families are stranded, cut off from food and basic supplies. Because of your support, our teams on the ground were able to be amongst the first to respond, providing life-saving humanitarian assistance.

But again, there’s so much more to do and once again, it starts with you. The biting cold this winter leaves the most vulnerable around the world in desperate need. If we don’t act now, then when?

We all have a part to play in helping to end the vicious cycle of poverty and leaving a legacy that will last generations to come. Together we can make 2022 the year more people than ever before are lifted out of poverty for good, and it all starts with people just like me and you.
