British Muslims for Positive Change – Miqdaad Versi’s Garden Reception
Penny Appeal's CEO, Ridwana Wallace-Laher, recently had the opportunity to attend a remarkable garden reception hosted by Miqdaad Versi, Director for Media Monitoring at the Muslim Council of Britain. It was an event to remember, shared with esteemed guests from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions – each implementing positive societal change in their own way.
The garden reception was an invaluable opportunity to network with such influential figures, as well as reconnect with old friends and colleagues. It was great for our CEO to be amongst such a talented group of people, all of whom share the same commitment to making a difference in our community.
The conversations that were had throughout the evening served as a reminder to us all about how we can work together to create effective change in our society. Ridwana shared her vision for Penny Appeal’s charitable projects, which aim to support those most vulnerable around the world.
This was also an opportunity for uto discuss the expansion of our UK initiatives, building on our pivotal sponsorship of the all-party Parliamentary group for British Muslims, which last year made history in creating the first definition of Islamophobia, (anti-Muslim hatred) which was adopted by most of the major political parties and a large number of police forces in Great Britain. This definition has played a pivotal role in the fight against hatred and intolerance across the country, and we at Penny Appeal are proud to be a central part of it.
Miqdaad Versi was a gracious host, offering his support for the projects of his guests, and commending the work that the wider Muslim community has done in helping those around the world who are suffering - and the invaluable role that British Muslims are playing in alleviating poverty, hunger, and injustice.
We at Penny Appeal are passionate about improving the lives of those in need, and this event was a reminder that team work really does make the dream work!
So, thank you to Miqdaad Versi and the Muslim Council of Britain for your hospitality and commitment to making this world a better place.
