800 million people need you to read this…
World Food Day 2019
This World Food Day, we want to raise awareness of the 800 million people who are starving.
These innocent people are in this situation because of war, famine, poverty, displacement or natural disasters – they haven’t got into this situation through any fault of their own. These people deserve to be heard, and they deserve our help.
Read more about the hunger crisis, and how you can make a lasting difference to people in need with Penny Appeal.
FEED OUR WORLD
A tale of two worlds…
In the western world the way we eat is changing dramatically. With new fad diets coming into fashion all the time, there is never a time where we aren’t looking for a different way to eat. But for millions of people around the world, trying a juice diet or testing out a new protein bar couldn’t be further from their minds.
Worldwide nearly 800 million people are starving; nearly 100 million of these people are suffering from severe malnutrition and risk starving to death. It’s hard to fathom that right at this very moment, a father and mother cannot provide a simple meal for their children.
One person dies of starvation every 3.6 seconds
On World Food Day 2019, we should all take the time to put ourselves in a struggling person’s shoes. Imagine the constant anxiety of not being able to take care of your own family, not even being able to put food on the table for your children.
This is something that no-one should have to go through, especially not in the 21st century.
How Penny Appeal is Feeding Our World
At Penny Appeal we have made it one of our many missions to battle hunger and we have started to do this in 30 crisis-hit countries. Our amazing donors have already managed to help us provide over 7 million meals to people who otherwise would have gone without, and that’s in just 10 years!
Just imagine how many people we could help in the next 10 years… To save lives, we need support from people just like yourself. This World Food Day set aside £30 from your usual big family food shop to provide 30 meals to those in desperate need. £1 a meal is so little when looking at the bigger picture.
SAVE A LIFE TODAY
Feed someone for life
Together we can empower entire communities with a sustainable food source.
A vegetable garden may not seem like much to us - as we can just nip to the local supermarket and get whatever we need. However, a vegetable garden could feed a community for LIFE! A Vegetable Garden will mean that parents are able to grow food for their families… and anything that they have in surplus they can sell, meaning that children could get educated, their houses could get fixed and their whole quality of life could improve.
Just £20 a month could feed someone for life with our Vegetable Gardens!
EMPOWER A COMMUNITY
If not you, who? If not now, when?
There are so many ways that we can change peoples lives, and it all starts with you.
You can be the one to impact a whole community, to provide food to areas that are plagued by drought and famine, or to feed a family for a month.
Thank you for reading this article on World Food Day 2019 – we are already one step closer to making life better for the 800 million severely malnourished people around the world by listening to their stories, understanding their struggles and lending them a helping hand.
