Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal

According to a glowing 2024 review in the Financial Times, Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal, at just 21-years-old, performs “with the finesse and expertise of a seasoned master.” 

Hailing from a prestigious lineage of qawwali virtuosos in the vibrant city of Faisalabad, Pakistan, Chahat Mahmood Ali has been immersed in the spiritual and musical depth of qawwali since childhood. His journey has been shaped under the tutelage of the illustrious Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, whose mentorship elevated Chahat's artistry to remarkable heights. 

Their ensemble, made up of nine exceptional musicians, has performed for esteemed dignitaries including the Mayor of London and the First Minister of Scotland, and since his UK debut in July 2023, has delivered over 220 captivating qawwali performances. 

The group draws on a deep well of experience, with members who have performed at global festivals such as WOMAD and WOMEX, often under the distinguished Qawwali Brands banner. 

Together, they carry forward the profound and devotional tradition of qawwali, captivating hearts with every performance and building cultural bridges through the power of sacred music.
