Supporting our Local Gymnasts!
Here at Penny Appeal, we’re proud to support our community and the amazing talent that arises from it. Since we moved into our new premises at Thornes Park in Wakefield, we have had a strong community presence and take pride in our collaborative work with our neighbours. One of the establishments we’re proud to share a campus with is Wakefield Gym Club.
A recent success story from Wakefield Gym Club is that of 11-year-old tumbling superstar Lucy Griffiths, who has caught the eye of Team GB coaches for potential selection for the prestigious International Scalibius Cup in Portugal! We would like to extend a big well done and an even bigger good luck to Lucy, who is definitely putting Wakefield on the map. This is not only a huge moment for our city but for Lucy herself who will be competing with gymnasts from 15 countries! The selection comes following some impressive results in recent competitions and involvement in Team GB’s Development Squad with which Lucy attends sessions at Lilleshall National Sport Centre in Telford. It looks like the five training sessions a week at Thornes Park Campus are paying off!
Community plays a huge factor in our work at Penny Appeal, and we truly believe in investing in local talent, working together, and investing in the place we live. Penny Appeal was born right here in Wakefield back in 2009 and although we help beneficiaries across the world, we will never forget our home turf.
We’re proud to work with Wakefield Gym to invest in our local athletes and look forward to collaborating with them on future initiatives which can benefit the amazing talent it produces.
If your child is interested in gymnastics, Wakefield Gym Club have available spaces.
