The Incredible Impact of Gift Aid: £2,152,094 in 2022!

In a world with boundless opportunities to make a positive impact, Gift Aid stands as a shining example of a simple act making a big difference. It’s estimated that over £1 billion in Gift Aid related tax relief for UK charities and donors is missed every year! Just imagine what this unclaimed cash could have had on our beneficiaries and those of other charities nationwide.  

So, what is Gift Aid? Gift Aid is a UK government scheme designed to boost charitable donations. It allows charities like ours to claim an additional 25p from every £1 donated by taxpayers. This percentage, although it may seem low on first glance, has the potential to generate an immense impact over a long period of time. In 2022, we raised an incredible £2,152,094 in Gift Aid donations thanks to you doing an amazing thing and ‘Gift Aiding’ your donations. This could provide over 7,000 water wells or sponsored almost 12,000 needy orphans. 

With such an incredible amount raised through Gift Aid alone, we’ve been able to allocate the funds to our lifechanging projects here in the UK and worldwide! We hope to do the same again this year. We want to see our Feed Our World appeal providing hundreds of thousands of extra meals for hungry individuals and our Thirst Relief appeal giving whole communities clean, safe drinking water. 

Why should you opt in to Gift Aid? Getting involved with Gift Aid is the ultimate way to give more to charity at no extra cost. Think about what an additional 25% of your donation could do for our great causes. It could see another orphan sponsored, another community fed, or another mosque well on its way to being built. We have worked hard to ensure that we can provide £1 meals to hungry families across the globe, this means that even a donation of £5 could see a whole extra meal on the table for a food insecure child or widow. That’s supercharging your donations, no matter how big or small. HMRC recorded £1.6 billion was claimed in the 2023 tax year, up 19% from last year! This has made a huge impact on so many charities doing amazing work in the community and beyond. 

Gift Aid, when fully embraced, has the potential to make a BIG difference to people’s lives. We’re on a mission to beat last year’s Gift Aid achievement so that the impact of our work is maximised to the fullest.
