Our Community Feed with Bradford City Kicks off again!
Our first ‘Thursday Feeding’ in our new home at Bradford City Hub last week was a hit! We were thrilled to see so many members of the community come to this newly established safe space to enjoy not only a hot meal but a warm place to eat it and lots of friendly chat. In case you missed it on our socials, we’ve also launched a service where members of the local community can drop off any unwanted non-perishable food items for our friends and neighbours in Bradford who are feeling the financial pinch this winter.
We’ve been experiencing freezing temperatures this week, with lows of -10 in some areas of the UK. The reality of the situation in these difficult times is that too many people are having to choose between heating their homes or feeding themselves and their children. This is the reason we launched the ‘Thursday Feeding’ initiative over a year ago and what a success it has been. Our staff and volunteers have brought more than just hot meals tsome of Bradford’s most vulnerable people, we’ve also brought a sense of community and a reminder that we’re here.
This year, the ‘Thursday Feeding’ has gone beyond a weekly meal distribution. We’ve ramped up our efforts in partnership with Bradford City Football Club and Bradford City FC Community Foundation to bring more resources to those who need them, collect vital funds for our life-saving mission, and combat food waste on match days – sounds like a hattrick to us! You can also find our Penny Appeal Food Truck along with some smiley members of our team this Saturday after Bradford City’s home game against Doncaster. We’ll be distributing leftover match day food to the homeless and vulnerable as well as accepting donations to our newly established food bank. Come and see us at the iconic Valley Parade from 6pm!
We’re delighted to have established this partnership with our favourite team, Bradford City, and have enjoyed reading the positive impact our community work is having on the people of Bradford. We’ve been featured in The Yorkshire Post, the Daily Mirror, Yahoo News and BBC News! Don’t take our word for it, take a look at the links below to see what they’ve had to say about this incredible partnership. There’s only one thing left to say, come on Bantams!
