Turkey’s Blue Mosque Dates Tin | Medjoul Dates | Penny Appeal
This year we are pleased to announce the release of five new designs, each representing a special theme within the Muslim world and beyond. In addition to the ever popular three Harams collection, we have expanded our collectible designs to include numerous mosques and causes.
2022 welcomes a scarlet tin with the ever-distinctive blue domes, representing Turkey’s most magnificent Blue Mosque. Sultanahmet Camii, more commonly known as the Blue Mosque, sits in Istanbul’s famous historic Sultanahmet district.
It was constructed between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Ahmed I, and a blossoming Ottoman era. A functioning mosque to this day, it is known as the Blue Mosque because of the abundance of blue tiles which surround the walls of the interior design. Attracting thousands of visitors each year, the Blue Mosque was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1985.
The majestic Sultanahmet Mosque can host over 10,000 people at a time and sits across the square from the famous Aya Sofiya which has been a church, a mosque, and a museum during its vast history. Over 200 stained glass windows and 20,000 handmade ceramic tiles make the Blue Mosque a wonder to behold.
You too can experience the beauty of the Blue Mosque by purchasing one of our Blue Mosque date tins this Ramadan. Each tin is packed with 800g of sweet and juicy Medjoul dates, grown for generations by Palestinian farmers in the fertile pastures of Jericho. Rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals and packed with energy and delicious sweetness, these are perfect for those fasting this year.
With our dates, your purchase will also assist with funding vital projects in Palestine. Projects havincluded Penny Appeal’s mobile water tanker supplying clean, fresh water to schools and hospitals, support with orphan sponsorship projects and the rebuilding of damaged infrastructure to enliven Muslim communities once again.
One lucky supporter will also find a golden ticket with a FREE trip to Palestine in their order!
