A catastrophic explosion has rocked the Lebanese capital of Beirut on August 4th, leaving at least 200 dead and 6,500 injured.
The country has been in a state of emergency since the blast and up to 300,000 people have been made homeless due to extensive destruction throughout the city.
Right now in Beirut, Penny Appeal are working closely with our partners on the ground to provide life-saving aid, including emergency food packs, hygiene kits, shelter and psychosocial support for those who have been affected by the blast.
Penny Appeal Cash Donations in Lebanon
A Country on the Brink of Collapse
In the immediate aftermath of the explosion, hospitals were overwhelmed, police were frantically searching for missing people and 300,000 people were made homeless.
Penny Appeal responded swiftly to the crisis in Beirut, providing urgent medical aid, food, blankets and essentials to those who were injured and have lost everything.
The long-term effects of this enormous blast are a major cause for alarm though. With political problems brewing for the past few years, COVID-19 has put Lebanon on the brink of economic collapse this year.
The country is home to over 1.5 million Syrian refugees alone, making up almost a quarter of the country’s population. The economic impact of this recent disaster is likely to push Lebanon into an unimaginable crisis, with the poorest and most vulnerable hit first.
You can make a difference today. Donate now to our Lebanon Emergency Appeal and help save lives!

Your Donations in Action
Thanks to you, we are able to provide rapid emergency aid to the people who were injured in the blast and to those who have lost everything, Alhamdulillah. But with the likelihood of economic collapse on the horizon and thousands of our brothers and sisters still without shelter as the winter months grow closer, your donations are needed now more than ever.
Penny Appeal are working with our trusted partners on the ground in Beirut to support vulnerable families and individuals that are still feeling the effects of the blast. We are now providing direct food assistance, hygiene and baby products, temporary accommodation, psychosocial care and cash-based support so families have the flexibility to address their specific needs in these uncertain times.
We have already helped thousands of families with emergency food and medical support but the crisis doesn’t end there. Communities that have been severely affected by the blast need your help to rebuild and families continue to need your support as they begin healing physically, mentally and emotionally.
Donate today and help those most vulnerable get the assistance they need.
Please note: due to the complex nature of disasters, our provisions may be changed so that we can adapt to people’s most urgent needs. You can rest assured that your donations will go towards helping those affected by the blast in Beirut in the best, most efficient, ways possible. Thank you!
