Pay Fitrana

Fitrana is due on every member of a household

What is Fitrana?

Zakat ul-Fitr, Fitrana or Fitrah, is a form of charity given to the poor at the end of Ramadan.

Fitrana is due on every member of a household, including any children or elderly persons and is obligatory to pay before Eid salah

How much is Fitrana this year?

The amount of Zakat ul-Fitr for this year with Penny Appeal is £3.50 per person. It has been calculated at this price because it is the average price of a meal in the UK. The Zakat al-Fitr donations are used to provide food for the needy.
Donate your Fitrana as soon as possible, so your donations can reach those in need in advance of Eid day.

When do we need to pay Fitrana?

Fitrana 2019 UK – we need to pay Fitrah by the end of the month Ramadan, before the Eid prayers at the latest. Fitrana 2019 UK payments must be made given before the Eid prayers are performed after Ramadan, which take place on June 4th 2019.

The difference between Zakat and Zakat–ul-Fitr

The first difference between Zakat and Zakat ul Fitr is eligibility. All Muslims must pay Zakat ul Fitr regardless of their age or financial status (unless they honestly do not have the means to do so).

The second difference lies in the amount due. The amount attributed to Zakat al Fitr is very small, and rarely exceeds £5. It is the same amount for all, regardless of financial situation. Zakat, however, can amount to a larger amount because its 2.5% of all net savings, and varies from person to person.

The third and final difference lies in their due dates. Zakat can be paid at any time, with the only condition being that the earnings reflect one year’s worth of net savings (one lunar year). Zakat ul Fitr , however, goes hand in hand with Ramadan. Zakat ul Fitr is paid during Ramadan before the month ends. It needs to be paid before the Eid prayers at the very latest. This is a very specific time frame that all Muslims must abide to.

Where will my Fitrana go?

Your Fitrana will go directly to those who need it most, through our Feed Our World appeal. We feed the poor in 30 crisis-hit countries around the world. The people in these countries are victims through no fault of their own, either of war, drought, famine & displacement, natural disasters or poverty.

Just £1 of your Fitrana can provide a nutritious meal to someone who would otherwise go without. Zakat al-Fitr is wajib for every Muslim, as long as you can afford to pay it.

Your Zakat al-Fitr, or Fitrana, is part of our 100% Zakat Policy, meaning that every penny of your donation will go directly to those in need.

Make sure that you pay your Fitrana of £3.50 before Eid salah, as is our obligation.

10 Amazing Years of Fitrana

We’re celebrating 10 Amazing Years of Penny Appeal in 2019 – that means 10 Years of giving your Zakat ul-Fitr to those who need it most.

Although £3.50 might seem like a small amount, when you think of all of the Fitrah that all Muslims must pay every year for 10 years, that adds up to a truly amazing amount of good we can do for the world’s poorest people. Your Fitrana 2019 UK will help feed the hungry this Eid – that’s amazing!
