Still wondering where to give your Qurbani? Read this before it’s too lat
Eid al-Adha Mubarak!
As the sun rises on the sacred day of Eid al-Adha, hearts are full of gratitude, kitchens are alive with the aromas of biryani, rich kormas, sizzling karahis, juicy kebabs and smoky barbeques-all of which are enough to set our taste buds drooling; and loved ones prepare to gather in joy and celebration.
But before we immerse ourselves completely in the festivities, there’s still a sincere question that might still be on your mind:
Where should I give my Qurbani this year?
Whether you’ve already donated or are still finalising your intention, deciding where to give Qurbani can feel overwhelming - because the need is so vast. But when we set out to honour the legacy of Prophet Ibrahiعَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ through this powerful act of obedience, we want to do it with sincerity, awareness, and impact.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“The son of Adam does not do any action on the Day of Sacrifice which is more beloved to Allah than the shedding of blood...” (Tirmidhi)
So, how do we make sure our Qurbani is accepted, meaningful and reaches those who need it most?
Here are five important things to consider-even on the day of Eid.
1. Qurbani is a Prophetic traditio
Qurbani is not simply a cultural tradition. It is a spiritual, social and personal act of devotion that reminds us of values like obedience, gratitude, compassion and discipline.
It’s important to ensure your sacrifice follows Qurbani rules in Islam-from knowing which animals are permissible, to understanding who is eligible to give Qurbani, and how it must be distributed.
And for that, we look to the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)، whose example guides us in every aspect of life. Make sure you’re following the Sunnah, properly and intentionally.
2. Consider those in conflict zone
Before we get carried away planning our Eid menus, let’s not forget that there are countless families who won’t even have a morsel of meat on Eid day.
Our brothers and sisters in places like Palestine, Yemen, Sudan and Syria are facing unimaginable hardship. If your Qurbani parcel could bring dignity, nourishment and joy to a displaced family – wouldn’t that be the most beautiful Eid gift?
3. Qurbani costs differ by regio
With the global cost of living crisis affecting nearly everyone, it’s wise to compare where your donation will stretch the furthest.
For instance, in the UK, a sheep could cost over £150, whereas the same amount could fund multiple Qurbani shares abroad. Alhamdulillah, as an organisation that is 100% Shariah-compliant, we offer affordable Qurbani options, as low as £24, that make a real difference.
Giving Qurbani locally might help someone who is torn between heating and eating. Giving abroad could feed communities who haven’t had meat in months - or even years.
4. It’s the intention that count
There’s no right or wrong answer here- some choose to do both, depending on their means.
What matters most is your niyyah (intention).
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Actions are but by intentions, and every man shall have only that which he intended.” (Bukhari)
Qurbani isn’t about how much you spend or how many animals you purchase - it’s about sincerity. Give quietly. Give with love. Give for the sake of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى, not recognition.
5. Choose a charity you trus
Finally, ask yourself- am I giving through a charity that delivers what it promises, with care, dignity and transparency?
Your Qurbani is not just a donation. It’s a divine trust. At Penny Appeal, we’re delivering Qurbani to fourteen countries, including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, and across Africa.
We ensure your sacrifice reaches those most in need- not just as meat, but as a moment of joy, relief, and dignity on Eid day.
It's not too late..
Even today -on this blessed day of Eid al-Adha - there’s still time for your Qurbani to reach someone in need.
So, give with a heart full of sincerity.
Give to those searching for blessings amidst suffering.
Give through a charity you trust.
Your Qurbani is their Eid. Your sacrifice could be their survival.
Give your Qurbani now - before the time runs out.
