Marketing Communications Manager

Responsible to: Director of Marketing & Communications

Main responsibilities:

Penny Appeal is seeking a Marketing Communications Manager with a strong background in campaign management, who can manage campaigns and create compelling content to help drive organisation outcomes.

 

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Manage the planning, content development, and execution of marketing campaigns.
  • Work closely with other departments and partnering organisations to lead on marketing and communications initiatives, including PR.
  • Generate creative campaign concepts for online and print products, to drive deeper engagement and yield among target audiences.
  • Ensure consistent company and product positioning throughout all marketing materials.
  • Act as a key stakeholder within marketing team on the expansion of online and mobile marketing channels, including social media to reach target audiences.
  • Manage project schedules to ensure that deadlines are met, and provide weekly updates to senior management as appropriate.

Videographer and Editor

Main responsibilities:


Penny Appeal is a charity providing poverty relief across Asia, the Middle East and Africa by offering water solutions, organising mass feedings, supporting orphan care and providing emergency food and medical aid.

We are looking to appoint a full time Videographer and Video Editor. Experienced in all aspects of video production, pre and post-production. This is an exciting role with prospects of working around the world filming and editing exciting and rewarding projects. You will need to be highly confident and able to work under pressure and at fast pace. Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Videography and Editing: Minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Film and edit live events and training, to produce videos that are consistent in style and branding of the company’s guidelines.

Penny Appeal is looking for an Artworker to join our creative and forward-thinking Marketing team. As an innovative charity with a strong online presence, we are looking for a motivated team player who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 

The successful applicant will be creating high quality, engaging visual content to encourage donations and support for the work of the charity, and engender a positive relationship with donors and volunteers.

 

Using Adobe Creative Cloud you will to be designing materials such as documents, leaflets, infographics, digital content, and advertising, using existing company and campaign branding to maximum effect. You will be working with a number of departments to fulfil briefs and incorporate feedback to meet requirements.

 

This would be a great opportunity for an individual with strong visual eye looking to gain experience in creating a variety of content, who would relish the challenge of managing and prioritising multiple projects and working to tight deadlines.

Joining the team as an Email Executive you will be working very closely with the senior leadership team. As a key member of a dynamic and growing charity, you will be required to think on your feet and adapt accordingly to the needs of the role at any given time. As key member of the charity you will come in contact with colleagues at all levels, it will be your responsibility to build excellent working relationships, which will allow you to get what you need from the team in a swift and efficient manner.

 

The focus of the role will be to take ownership of email campaigns, engagement funnels and automated user journeys, delivered as per the brief in a timely manner.

 

To be considered for this role, experience in email & online marketing, user behaviour and HTML is essential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mapping of email user journeys and experiences whilst liaising with internal and external teams to bring about changes focused on improving retention, user experience and service

Customer Service Administration Assistant

Responsible to: Contact Centre Manager

Hours: Full-time

Based at: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

 

We are looking for a Customer Service Administration Assistant to join the organisation at an exciting time of growth. You will be required to support your team leader to ensure efficient operation and assist the team in daily tasks from answering phones to effectively using Microsoft suite, along with other programmes, as well as carrying out other office based tasks. Due to our rapid growth, our staff are skilled in a variety of different areas and are able to adapt well to a range of scenarios.

 

Hours are flexible and to be agreed but a minimum of 40 hours per week including weekend shifts. Mon – Thurs 10-7pm and Sunday 10-7pm.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Using Microsoft Excel to generate reports etc.

Role Overview:

Penny Appeal is a national and international humanitarian aid charity, which aims to relieve the suffering of poor and needy people in the UK and across the world. Our growth plans are ambitious and to help achieve them, we are recruiting a HR Manager to work both from an operational and strategic perspective. We are looking for a highly skilled HR Manager to oversee all aspects of HR practices and processes. You will support the business and ensure the proper implementation of a company strategy. As the face of HR, you will be responsible for all aspects of Management, which include; Recruitment, Inductions, Training and Development, Employee Relations and Performance Management.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement a HR strategy which aligns our operating philosophy and business plans.
  • Manage our employee relations which include but are not limited to: absence, disciplinaries, grievances, sickness, maternity/paternity leave.
  • Manage investigations, complex disciplinary/grievance procedures. and all company HR issues.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are up to date and in-line with current employment law and communicated effectively.

UK Programmes Coordinator

Responsible to: Head of UK Programmes

Hours: Permanent (40 per week)

Salary: Depending on experience

Based at: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

 


Role overview:

The UK Programmes Coordinator will support and coordinate the charity’s activities within the UK in regard to ongoing schemes, one-off projects and emergency aid work. They will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation of tasks related to UK programme work and as such must possess excellent communication skills in order to create and maintain relationships with community groups, public bodies and other charities, and local authorities.

 

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • To work closely with Head of UK programmes to ensure operational delivery and design of any services.
  • Organise and coordinate regular programmes, campaigns and activities in line with the agreed objectives.
  • Create, build, develop and execute service delivery on those programmes, campaigns and activities to which the individual holds responsibility. This will encompass, but is not limited to, hot food provision for the homeless, schemes to visit the sick and elderly.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key contacts, including but not limited to, volunteers, schools, local community leaders/groups, statutory services, mosques and faith groups.
  • Responsible for all aspects relating to the Penny Appeal bus, including planning, preparing and maintaining a sustainable programme of projects across the UK, ensuring the vehicle is properly maintained by reporting any issues and carrying out necessary maintenance checks regularly. To also train as the nominated Bus driver for Penny Appeal.

Regional Programme Coordinator (Asia, Middle East and Africa)

Hours: Full-time

Salary: Dependant on experience 

Based at: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

 

The Regional Programme Coordinator (RPC) is responsible for coordinating international project-related operations, assessing, organising and delivering specific projects as directed. The RPC will manage and ensure that the projects and programmes are generating the desired results and will provide feedback to donors and other stakeholders where requested.

 

As part of the International Programmes Department, the RPC is responsible for developing, amending and reviewing Penny Appeal programme and project strategies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Research and support the planning, development and implementation of projects in various locations
  • Maintain direct contact with Penny Appeal partners on the planning, implementation and progress of projects on a regular basis
  • Develop and issue requests for partnership using grant guidelines
  • Ensure effective due diligence is carried out with all documentation from prospective partners, to make certain all are correct and fit for their intended purpose
  • Research and prepare proposals and summaries with recommendations for appropriate action
  • Monitor and evaluate the ongoing projects to ensure that the department is meeting the objectives as required
  • Coordinate meetings between Penny Appeal partners and stakeholders

 

 

Financial and administrative responsibilities:

 

  • Work with the Senior Programme Officer to ensure that any current/future projects are sufficiently funded and transactions are on time
  • Verify budgets, invoices and financial liquidation reports to ensure that money is being spent according to the approved operational plan
  • Review the budget and communicate any changes where needed
  • Prepare MoU and funding agreements as and when required
  • Represent Penny Appeal as and where needed


Coordination with Marketing and Communications and Donor Relations departments:


  • Timely response to specific questions of donors
  • Prepare feedback reports for donors and other stakeholders within appropriate timeframe
  • Attend internal department meetings and coordinate with other departments as and when required


Working conditions, travel and environment:


  • Requires regular attendance at least 5 days per week. Must be available to work outside normal office hours or at weekends as required
  • The role is mainly office-based, however the candidate must be able to travel as required (minimum 25%) in both the UK and developing countries where these projects are being undertaken to gain a better understanding
  • Whilst performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well as to infectious disease.

  • 2+ years of experience of relevant work, including international posting(s)

Research Officer (Voluntary)

Department: Partnerships

Reporting to: Director of Partnerships and Excecutive Officer

Based at:London, Bradford

 

We are looking to engage a number of enthusiastic researchers to support our humanitarian and long term development programmes in both the UK and overseas. Assisting our Director of Partners and Executive Officer, the individual will be identifying appropriate institutions, corporate sector organisations, for partnerships and collaboration in our programmes. Working in close collaboration with the Programmes and Partnerships teams, their directors, and the Special Advisor. Occasional attendance to conferences both in the UK and Europe may be required.

 

Researchers will support our humanitarian and long term development programmes in both the UK and overseas. Assisting our Director of Partners and Executive Officer in carrying out extensive research on corporate sector organisations and their social responsibility priorities. The individual will be identifying appropriate institutions and linking them with Penny Appeal for partnerships and collaboration.

  • Write concept notes for potential projects.

Regional Fundraising Manager (two positions available)

Responsible to: Director of Fundraising 

Hours: Full Time

Salary: Dependent on Experience

Based at: Positions available in Yorkshire and London 

 

As our volunteer base expands throughout the country, we are recruiting three Fundraising Managers to join our dedicated team, one for the Yorkshire area and one for the London area. You will be working with the Head of Fundraising, Board of Trustees, Chief Executive, and other departments as well as other Regional Fundraisers to initiate, plan, and manage the fundraising and volunteer activity for the charity in your region.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • To organise and co-ordinate regular local campaigns and fundraising/promotional events including local community events
  • To support seasonal fundraising and marketing campaigns by assisting staff in other departments as required in order to facilitate the work of the charity
  • To represent the charity at events in a professional and presentable manner, and do the utmost to promote the charity
  • To attend, promote, and raise funds for the charity at any events organised by individuals or third party organisations
  • To prepare, manage, and deliver a fundraising strategy and budget for your region
  • To lead, evaluate, develop, train, manage, and grow a network of volunteers to complement and deliver the charity's objectives
  • To identify and research the local donor market's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and competitors and use the findings accordingly to implement new ways of increasing funds
  • To help grow the donor database of the charity
  • To establish, build, and maintain relationships with key contacts including, but not limited to donors, volunteers, ISOCS, schools, local community leaders and groups, Masjids, and external organisations, including the general public
  • Create, build, and develop partnerships within the corporate sector, as well as small to medium-sized businesses and enterprises
  • Proactively seek new supporters and individuals or opportunities for donors to contribute towards the organisation through personal contacts or knowledge of the Muslim community

Qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum of two years' senior level fundraising experience
  • Strong project management skills and initiative
  • Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise a complicated workload
  • Proven track record across all types of fundraising
  • Demonstrable experience in securing major gifts is an advantage
  • Experience as a manager in a similar organisation is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Islamic financial matters (Zakat, Wakf, Quarbani, etc.) is an advantage

Shop and Fundraising Manager (two positions available) 

Report to: Fundraising Manager – Retail Division

Hours of work: to be agreed

Salary: Competitive

Location: Positions available in Birmingham and Bradford

 

 

 Shop Manager:

 

  • Managing the day to day running of the shop
  • Optimising sales
  • Maintaining effective stock management and merchandising
  • Carrying out shop administration
  • Promoting Penny Appeal campaigns using HQ led marketing methods
  • Have experience in retail shop management

 

Fundraising:

  • To organise and co-ordinate regular local campaigns and fundraising/promotional activities and events including local community events.
  • Create, build and develop partnerships within the corporate sector, as well as small to medium-sized businesses/enterprises.
  • Have working experience in the charity sector.
  • Have a knowledge of Penny Appeal core campaigns and strategies.
  • Have already established links with local organisations and businesses in the local area.

 

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Take day to day responsibility for managing shop operations and staffing
  • Manage the shop as per agreed standard operating procedures
  • Propose action for improvements in operations
  • Maintain an awareness of developments in local shops, especially in the charity sector
  • Maintain and develop good channels of communication with clients and colleagues in local communities and organisations
  • Ensure the shop is competing effectively with local competitors
  • Initiate marketing campaigns and sales promotions to increase sales
  • Initiate local stock and sales promotions
  • Apply suitable display, merchandising and window dressing standards
  • Manage and improve on procurement of shop merchandise
  • Apply Trading Standards Regulations in the shop
  • Control stock density and rotation
  • Apply cash register procedures
  • Summarise takings using agreed procedures
  • Take day to day responsibility for shop interior
  • Ensure all shop equipment is kept in good working order
  • Inform line manager of necessary repairs and maintenance

  •  Securely log all donations and pledges accurately and ensure that clear records of such donations and pledges are maintained

  • Proactively seek new funders and individuals or opportunities for donors to contribute towards the organisation through research and networking

·        Educated to a good level up to at least GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
