Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • To deliver world class service to donors.
  • To process and deliver all donor related services accurately and on time.
  • Daily interaction with donors via telephone.
  • To build and maintain strong professional relationships with our donors.
  • To support donors where necessary and escalating queries where appropriate.
  • Liaise with other departments to meet donor service definition criteria.
  • Carry out other duties as required to fulfil the role.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience of working in a customer facing role is desirable but not necessary.

Videographer and Editor

Responsible to: Media Manager

Main responsibilities:


Penny Appeal is a charity providing poverty relief across Asia, the Middle East and Africa by offering water solutions, organising mass feedings, supporting orphan care and providing emergency food and medical aid.

 

We are looking to appoint a full time Videographer and Video Editor. Experienced in all aspects of video production, pre and post-production. This is an exciting role with prospects of working around the world filming and editing exciting and rewarding projects. You will need to be highly confident and able to work under pressure and at fast pace. Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Videography and Editing: Minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Film and edit live events and training, to produce videos that are consistent in style and branding of the company’s guidelines.
  • Editing projects (e.g. internal videos, highlight reels, web videos, broadcast spots, Social Media Videos, Documentaries).
  • Categorise and storage of all material on shared central drive.
  • Same day editing and uploading to websites whilst oversees.

Role Overview:


Penny Appeal is seeking a Head of Marketing Campaigns with a strong background in team management and experience across the marketing spectrum. Ideally, the candidate will have the ability to manage multiple channels and agencies, catering for offline mediums, with the main aim to drive the organisations aim and agenda.

 

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Manage a team consisting of content writers, press officers and marketing managers.
  • Lead and develop marketing and communication strategies - liaising directly with internal and external stakeholders, senior leadership team and third-party organisations.
  • Embed a planned and focused approach to marcomms across the organisation ensuring that activities are prioritised, resources are utilised and marketing communication needs are allocated appropriately .
  • Manage the development and leadership of the Marketing Communications team including monitoring, reporting, evaluations and ensuring delivery of a value-for-money service is adhered to.
  • Generate creative campaign concepts for online and print products, to drive deeper engagement and yield among target audiences.
  • Work with sub-teams, print houses and agencies to plan out and manage workloads, to ensure deadlines are met. Produce workflow grids and plans to keep to senior management up-to-date on output.
  • Keep up to date with developments and share findings and champion opportunities that these could present to the organisation.
  • Promote and protect branding through effective advice and coordination of all internal and external communications.

  • Manage social media marketing activities focussing on Twitter, Facebook, Flikr, LinkedIn, YouTube and others as appropriate.

  • Work closely with Penny Appeal’s International Marketing Managers.

  • Websites - content, updates, reciprocal links, branding, social media, partnership site content.

Customer Service Administration Assistant

Responsible to: Contact Centre Manager

Hours: Full-time

Salary: Dependent on experience

Based at: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

 

We are looking for a Customer Service Administration Assistant to join the organisation at an exciting time of growth. You will be required to support your team leader to ensure efficient operation and assist the team in daily tasks from answering phones to effectively using Microsoft suite, along with other programmes, as well as carrying out other office based tasks. Due to our rapid growth, our staff are skilled in a variety of different areas and are able to adapt well to a range of scenarios.

 

Hours are flexible and to be agreed but a minimum of 40 hours per week including weekend shifts. Mon – Thurs 10-7pm and Sunday 10-7pm.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Using Microsoft Excel to generate reports etc.
  • Answering phones when required
  • Making outbound calls to donors when required
  • Liaise in a professional manner with other colleagues
  • Use databases to provide internal support for the team
  • Handle donor requests in a timely and professional manner

Role Overview:

Penny Appeal is a national and international humanitarian aid charity, which aims to relieve the suffering of poor and needy people in the UK and across the world. Our growth plans are ambitious and to help achieve them, we are recruiting a HR Manager to work both from an operational and strategic perspective. We are looking for a highly skilled HR Manager to oversee all aspects of HR practices and processes. You will support the business and ensure the proper implementation of a company strategy. As the face of HR, you will be responsible for all aspects of Management, which include; Recruitment, Inductions, Training and Development, Employee Relations and Performance Management.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement a HR strategy which aligns our operating philosophy and business plans.
  • Manage our employee relations which include but are not limited to: absence, disciplinaries, grievances, sickness, maternity/paternity leave.
  • Manage investigations, complex disciplinary/grievance procedures. and all company HR issues.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are up to date and in-line with current employment law and communicated effectively.
  • Create a training and development programme for each individual /team within the company based on a training needs analysis/ performance review analysis.
  • Manage the payroll process, including the provider.
  • Manage HR budgets.

Role overview:


The Head of Events will strategically and operationally prepare, manage and deliver the organisations events and tours programme within the UK on behalf and co-ordinate multi departmental working to ensure well-managed, effective, and efficient events with the primary purpose of fundraising for the charity’s core programmes.

The UK Programmes Coordinator will support and coordinate the charity’s activities within the UK in regard to ongoing schemes, one-off projects and emergency aid work. The Programmes Accountant will be responsible for supporting the efficient management of programmes and campaign deliverables in assigned regions and countries working closely with field offices / partners and the leadership.

We are looking to engage a number of enthusiastic researchers to support our humanitarian and long term development programmes in both the UK and overseas. Assisting our Director of Partners and Executive Officer, the individual will be identifying appropriate institutions, corporate sector organisations, for partnerships and collaboration in our programmes. Working in close collaboration with the Programmes and Partnerships teams, their directors, and the Special Advisor. Occasional attendance to conferences both in the UK and Europe may be required.

 

Researchers will support our humanitarian and long term development programmes in both the UK and overseas. Assisting our Director of Partners and Executive Officer in carrying out extensive research on corporate sector organisations and their social responsibility priorities. The individual will be identifying appropriate institutions and linking them with Penny Appeal for partnerships and collaboration.

Regional Fundraising Manager (two positions available)

As our volunteer base expands throughout the country, we are recruiting three Fundraising Managers to join our dedicated team, one for the Yorkshire area and one for the London area. You will be working with the Head of Fundraising, Board of Trustees, Chief Executive, and other departments as well as other Regional Fundraisers to initiate, plan, and manage the fundraising and volunteer activity for the charity in your region.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • To organise and co-ordinate regular local campaigns and fundraising/promotional events including local community events
  • To support seasonal fundraising and marketing campaigns by assisting staff in other departments as required in order to facilitate the work of the charity

  • Ensure all fixtures, fittings and equipment are kept in good working order and report any repairs or maintenance in a timely manner.
  • To provide regular reporting on shop operations and takings.
  • Promote Penny Appeal campaigns using guidance and marketing collateral provided and having built a knowledge of the charity’s campaigns and aims.
  • Maintain and develop good channels of communication with clients and colleagues in local communities and organisations.
  • Optimise sales, ensure the shop is competing effectively and meeting the set targets.

  • Liaise with Regional Fundraising Manger to support any fundraising opportunities.
  • Proactively seek new funders and individuals or opportunities for donors to contribute towards the organisation through research and networking.

 

Qualifications and experience:

 

  • Experience in retail shop.
  • Working understanding of the charity sector, including awareness of developments in charity shop operations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Shop and Fundraising Manager (two positions available) 

Report to: Fundraising Manager – Retail Division

Hours of work: to be agreed

Salary: Competitive

Location: Positions available in Birmingham and Bradford

 

 

 Shop Manager:

 

  • Managing the day to day running of the shop
  • Optimising sales
  • Maintaining effective stock management and merchandising
  • Carrying out shop administration
  • Promoting Penny Appeal campaigns using HQ led marketing methods
  • Have experience in retail shop management

 

Fundraising:

  • To organise and co-ordinate regular local campaigns and fundraising/promotional activities and events including local community events.
  • Create, build and develop partnerships within the corporate sector, as well as small to medium-sized businesses/enterprises.
  • Have working experience in the charity sector.
  • Have a knowledge of Penny Appeal core campaigns and strategies.
  • Have already established links with local organisations and businesses in the local area.

 

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Take day to day responsibility for managing shop operations and staffing
  • Manage the shop as per agreed standard operating procedures
  • Propose action for improvements in operations
  • Maintain an awareness of developments in local shops, especially in the charity sector
  • Maintain and develop good channels of communication with clients and colleagues in local communities and organisations
  • Ensure the shop is competing effectively with local competitors
  • Initiate marketing campaigns and sales promotions to increase sales
  • Initiate local stock and sales promotions
  • Apply suitable display, merchandising and window dressing standards
  • Manage and improve on procurement of shop merchandise
  • Apply Trading Standards Regulations in the shop
  • Control stock density and rotation
  • Apply cash register procedures
  • Summarise takings using agreed procedures
  • Take day to day responsibility for shop interior
  • Ensure all shop equipment is kept in good working order
  • Inform line manager of necessary repairs and maintenance
  • Act as main key holder and delegate key holding to others if needed
  • Ensure the security of shop takings
  • Provide regular reporting on shop operations and takings
  • Ensure the shop meets sales targets set by line manager
  •  Securely log all donations and pledges accurately and ensure that clear records of such donations and pledges are maintained
  • Liaise with Regional Fundraising Manger to support any fundraising opportunities

Experience:

·        Educated to a good level up to at least GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics

·        Minimum of two years experience in the retail sector at Assistant Manager level or higher

·        Experience in providing excellence in Customer Service

·        Ability to be customer focused and drive sales

·        Computer literate

·        Financial understanding and working to targets

·        Strong organisational skills

·        Demonstrable ability to work as part of a team

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·        Commitment to the aims and ethos of the charity

·        Ability to set and meet personal objectives

·        Motivated to continually improve standards and customer service

·        Experience of working with volunteers
