Your charisma will make it easy for you to build rapport, open up conversations on inbound or outbound calls and keep our donors happy.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • To deliver world class service to donors.
  • To process and deliver all donor related services accurately and on time.
  • Daily interaction with donors via telephone.
  • To build and maintain strong professional relationships with our donors.
  • To support donors where necessary and escalating queries where appropriate.
  • Liaise with other departments to meet donor service definition criteria.
  • Carry out other duties as required to fulfil the role.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience of working in a customer facing role is desirable but not necessary.
  • An excellent phone manner.

Shift pattern will be: Tuesday – Thurcsday 3pm - 12am and Friday – Saturday 4pm – 1am

Role Overview:


Penny Appeal is seeking a Head of Marketing Campaigns with a strong background in team management and experience across the marketing spectrum. Ideally, the candidate will have the ability to manage multiple channels and agencies, catering for offline mediums, with the main aim to drive the organisations aim and agenda.

 

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Manage a team consisting of content writers, press officers and marketing managers.
  • Lead and develop marketing and communication strategies - liaising directly with internal and external stakeholders, senior leadership team and third-party organisations.
  • Embed a planned and focused approach to marcomms across the organisation ensuring that activities are prioritised, resources are utilised and marketing communication needs are allocated appropriately .
  • Manage the development and leadership of the Marketing Communications team including monitoring, reporting, evaluations and ensuring delivery of a value-for-money service is adhered to.
  • Generate creative campaign concepts for online and print products, to drive deeper engagement and yield among target audiences.
  • Work with sub-teams, print houses and agencies to plan out and manage workloads, to ensure deadlines are met. Produce workflow grids and plans to keep to senior management up-to-date on output.
  • Keep up to date with developments and share findings and champion opportunities that these could present to the organisation.
  • Promote and protect branding through effective advice and coordination of all internal and external communications.
  • Work closely with other departments and partnering organisations to lead on marketing and communications initiatives, including PR.
  • Prepare briefs and write content for communication channels.
  • Ensure consistent company and product positioning throughout all marketing materials.
  • Act as a senior member of the Penny Appeal team and represent on the Senior Management Team, along with at other third-party meetings.
  • Manage direct reports and offer best practice guidance and support.
  • To work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to protect and promote the Penny Appeal brand through various marketing, PR, media relations and stakeholder engagement activity.
  • Measure and analyse the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
  • Manage agencies and suppliers, and control quality, delivery and service.

 

General:


  • Take responsibility for developing own knowledge of marketing communications and the sector, along with keeping up to date on new developments.
  • Assist staff in other departments and regions as required in order to facilitate the work of the charity.

Qualifications and experience:


  • A Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in a product or campaign marketing role required, with proven experience of managing a team.
  • Strong project management skills and copywriting ability.
  • Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise a complicated workload.
  • Knowledge of Islamic financial matters (Zakat, Wakf, Qurbani etc.) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of additional languages, Arabic and Urdu is an advantage.

This would suit an experienced social media community manager with proactive campaign experience, who is looking for a big challenge and would relish an opportunity to help an organisation’s approach to social media.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Manage social media marketing activities focussing on Twitter, Facebook, Flikr, LinkedIn, YouTube and others as appropriate.
  • Ensure each channel is scheduled and filled with content in-line with campaigns set by marketing managers.
  • Work closely with Penny Appeal’s International Marketing Managers.
  • Expand the reach of social media activities, e.g., tweeting, sharing, engaging, liking and increasing social reach.
  • Source and develop content (including stories, videos and pictures) to be used across social media channels using the appropriate tone-of-voice.
  • Promote the charities challenges and events across social media channels.
  • Monitor trends on Social Media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
  • Analyse the success of activities, translating anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the social media activities.
  • Conduct competitive analysis studies of the social media campaigns carried out by other charities.

Customer Service Administration Assistant

Responsible to: Contact Centre Manager

Hours: Full-time

Salary: Dependent on experience

Based at: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

 

We are looking for a Customer Service Administration Assistant to join the organisation at an exciting time of growth. You will be required to support your team leader to ensure efficient operation and assist the team in daily tasks from answering phones to effectively using Microsoft suite, along with other programmes, as well as carrying out other office based tasks. Due to our rapid growth, our staff are skilled in a variety of different areas and are able to adapt well to a range of scenarios.

 

Hours are flexible and to be agreed but a minimum of 40 hours per week including weekend shifts. Mon – Thurs 10-7pm and Sunday 10-7pm.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Using Microsoft Excel to generate reports etc.
  • Answering phones when required
  • Making outbound calls to donors when required
  • Liaise in a professional manner with other colleagues
  • Use databases to provide internal support for the team
  • Handle donor requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist in work allocation and management of team member’s workload
  • Liaise with the team members regarding donor’s concerns
  • Liaise with other departments to resolve donor enquiries
  • Create spreadsheets and update records
  • Investigate payment enquires
  • Assist and undertake any reasonable task requested from a responsible member of staff

 

Personal specifications:

  • IT literate

Role overview:


The Head of Events will strategically and operationally prepare, manage and deliver the organisations events and tours programme within the UK on behalf and co-ordinate multi departmental working to ensure well-managed, effective, and efficient events with the primary purpose of fundraising for the charity’s core programmes.

 

In order to fulfil the demands of this post, you will need to work flexibly in response to event requirements. Early starts will be required during tours, and evening / weekend work where necessary. There is also a requirement to be present at most of the events, which includes overnight stays away from home on occasions.

 

As the lead individual in the organisation for events and tours, you will have primary responsibility in the delivery and executing of Penny Appeal events. You will also line manage a team of Event Managers and Support Officers.

 

 

Key responsibilities:


  • Leading the Events department and its relative workstreams.
  • Project managing and executing high profile tours and campaigns.
  • Planning and delivering an events calendar that avoids.
  • Produce event business cases as well as budget preparation, management and reporting.
  • Setting and understanding the objectives of events and ensuring those are maximized through event planning.
  • Overseeing the management and delivery of events, exhibitions and conferences for the charity, including full end-to-end planning, delegate logistics and communication.
  • Bringing together appropriate teams and colleagues to deliver events.
  • Supporting other departments in their events through leadership and planning.
  • Producing and managing standard procedures and checklists for the management and delivery of events as required.
  • Work with the Marketing Department to ensure that all events and tours are supported with a comprehensive marketing strategy to reach maximum participation.

The RPC will manage and ensure that the projects and programmes are generating the desired results and will provide feedback to donors and other stakeholders where requested.

  • Maintain direct contact with PA partners on the planning, implementation and progress of projects on regular basis.
  • Develop and issue requests for partnership using Grant guidelines.
  • Ensure effective due diligence is carried out with all documentation from prospective partners, to make certain all are correct and fit for their intended purpose.
  • Research and prepare proposals and summaries with recommendations for appropriate action.
  • Monitor and evaluate the ongoing projects to ensure that the department is meeting the objectives as required.
  • Coordinate meetings between PA partners and stakeholders.
  • Work with the Senior Programme Officer to ensure that any current/future projects are sufficiently funded and transactions are on time.
  • Verify budgets, invoices and financial liquidation reports to ensure that money is being spent according to the approved operational plan.
  • Review the budget and communicate any changes where needed.
  • Prepare MoU and funding agreements as and when required.
  • Represent Penny Appeal as and where needed.

 

General:


  • Timely response to specific questions of donors.
  • Preparing feedback reports for donors and other stakeholders within appropriate timeframe.
  • Attend internal department meetings and coordinate with other departments as and when required.
  • Requires regular attendance at least 5 days per week. Must be available to work outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required.
  • The role is mainly office-based, however the candidate must be able to travel as required (minimum 25%) in both the UK and developing countries where these projects are being undertaken to gain a better understanding.
  • Whilst performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well is to infectious diseases.

 

Qualifications and experience:


  • 2+ years of experience of relevant work, including international posting(s)
  • Ability to demonstrate responsibility and competency of programme development, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Grant management, evaluation and monitoring skills.
  • Experience in report and proposal writing.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Leadership, networking and relations management skills.
  • High level of computer literacy, use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Be versed with current International standards and best practices for INGOs/humanitarian relief and development agencies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Willingness to travel overseas.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree Level Qualified in a relief and development related course.

  • The role is mainly office-based, however the candidate must be able to travel as required (minimum 25%) in both the UK and developing countries where these projects are being undertaken to gain a better understanding.
  • Whilst performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well is to infectious diseases.

 

Qualifications and experience:


  • 2+ years of experience of relevant work, including international posting(s)
  • Ability to demonstrate responsibility and competency of programme development, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Grant management, evaluation and monitoring skills.
  • Experience in report and proposal writing.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Leadership, networking and relations management skills.
  • High level of computer literacy, use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Be versed with current International standards and best practices for INGOs/humanitarian relief and development agencies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Willingness to travel overseas.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree Level Qualified in a relief and development related course.

Research Officer (Voluntary)

Department: Partnerships

Reporting to: Director of Partnerships and Excecutive Officer

Based at:London, Bradford

 

We are looking to engage a number of enthusiastic researchers to support our humanitarian and long term development programmes in both the UK and overseas. Assisting our Director of Partners and Executive Officer, the individual will be identifying appropriate institutions, corporate sector organisations, for partnerships and collaboration in our programmes. Working in close collaboration with the Programmes and Partnerships teams, their directors, and the Special Advisor. Occasional attendance to conferences both in the UK and Europe may be required.

 

Researchers will support our humanitarian and long term development programmes in both the UK and overseas. Assisting our Director of Partners and Executive Officer in carrying out extensive research on corporate sector organisations and their social responsibility priorities. The individual will be identifying appropriate institutions and linking them with Penny Appeal for partnerships and collaboration.

 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Support the departments of Programmes and Partnerships
  • Conduct research
  • Write reports and briefings.
  • Write concept notes for potential projects.
  • Attend meetings and conferences within the UK and overseas, and take appropriate notes.
  • Undertake administrative tasks.
  • Assist in identifying suitable organisations who may be interested in, or relevant to, our programmes in the UK and internationally.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in developing appropriate narratives to reach out to various organisations
  • Ensure all correspondence and relevant administration pertaining to the partnership is produced in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist the Head of Programmes in the identification of case studies for use in promotional material
  • Be aware of and comply with key performance measures and indicators which enable Penny Appeal to produce evidence of its operational achievements against set targets
  • Be aware of and comply with equal opportunities legislation and good practice in the area of equality and diversity
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, legal and regulatory requirements

 

 

Person Specification:


  • Qualified to a degree level, ideally in International Development
  • Experience of working with international programmes in an NGO setting
  • Experience in research
  • Experience of conducting needs assessments
  • Knowledge and understanding of international programmes
  • Knowledge of the charity sector
  • Good leadership and people management skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Good IT skills
  • Report and proposal writing skills
  • Ability to work in a systematic and methodical manner
  • Ability to work well on own initiative
  • Ability to work flexibly, under pressure and adapt to change
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role and meet the business needs
