A therapy session is a time set aside on an agreed date at an agreed place. Counselling offers a safe, secure and confidential space to talk through and process thoughts and feelings and to support and empower women, enabling them to heal from their experiences. Counsellors will not offer advice and suggest what to do but will provide a non-judgmental space to process thoughts and support what works for each individual.
Counselling sessions are confidential, this means anything disclosed during counselling remains between the individual and the therapist. However, there are certain circumstances in which the counsellor is bound to breach confidentiality and these will be discussed during the initial session.
All Penny Appeal counsellors are female. Each client will receive 10 sessions of weekly counselling, each session will last 50 minutes.
Penny Appeal’s team of counsellors receive ongoing training and regular professional supervision to support their work.
